Cashes Green Football Club was formed as a youth team in 1948. In 1949 they joined the Stroud & District Youth League at under 18 level and in their first season the finished in bottom place! The senior team was formed around the same time and in 1953 they too entered Stroud League football, joining the third division. They were promoted as runners-up in their first season and the following year saw them promoted again the Stroud League Division One. These were successful times for the club and in 1955/56 saw the introduction of a reserves side in division three.
The season 1956-57 was probably the club's finest with them winning the county junior challenge cup and finishing as champions of division one which in turn enabled them to join the Northern Senior League Division Two.
They stayed in the Senior League for six seasons finishing as high as fifth.
In 1963 they rejoined the Stroud League and were relegated. The stay in division two lasted only one season as they were promoted back to division one as champions. Apart from 1978-79, they remained in division one until 1986. The reserves continued to play in the lower divisions, winning the division five championship in 1978-79. The first team won the Charity Cup in 1982-83 defeating Shortwood Utd 3-1 at Stonehouse F.C.
The 1989-90 season saw the first team relegated to Division Two and the decline continued with them dropping two divisions to division four between 1990 and 1994, with the reserves dropping into division seven.
The club has seen a revival over the last few seasons with the first team winning the Stroud Charity Cup, section C in 1996 beating Nuclear Electric 2-1 in Brimscombe
